Camara Raw Tokina 11-16mm 2.8 canon Lens Profile

hi,
i looked all aver the net and i did not find a Camera Raw profile for this wonderful lens, the best ultra wide angle for APSC sensor, so decided to make one.I used Ti1 as my Ti2 550D is at the service center right now as  the viewfinder lcd failed. The photos were made with tripod and stand, Raw, mirror lock up, remote, and so on. All the focal lengths 11mm 12mm 13mm 14mm 15mm 16mm and the biggest target with the most info, so enjoy!   You can download the file HERE, then just import it into Camera Raw presets. It would correct the Geometric distortion, Chromatic Aberrations and Vignetting automatically at all focal lengths. Happy shooting!!!

if you wonder where it is  on the PC:
mine is  here on my Windows7 C:\Users\dark eagle\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0
dark eagle is my user name so yours would be different respectively.

  5. Thanks for this! I'm hoping to switch my Sigma 10-20mm for the Tokina 11-16mm, so I'll definitely give your profile a try.

  10. yes, you can use it, as far as you have CS5 installed. Also i like to mention that if you do the profile yourself with your exact camera and exact lens there would be no more than 5% difference, which in real world doesn't count, this assuming you dont have decentered lens or sth like that.
Though i used perfect camera and perfect lens, so the profile should be general

  11. Is there a way how to use or import this preset in Lightroom 3 on Mac?

  12. I found how to install this profile in lightroom 3. Tested it, but Chromatic Aberrations this profile correct not so much as I expected... Not big difference with original photography...

  13. It corrects the normal CA produced by the lens, not an exaggerated one. Here http://rapidshare.com/files/429615930/Samyang_85mm_LCA_correct.atn
is an accion for Photoshop i created that corrects Fringe when shooting wide open with Canon 85 1.2 and similar lenses, Samyang 85 1.4, etc. It would work for sure. It was meant for correcting Longitudinal Chromatic Aberrations which we call Fringe but will correct any thing similar. Just check it

  16. you cant use it with Nikon camera, its sensor dependand

  17. yes, you can but it will not give you the perfect results as on a Canon. I figured that the profile would be listed in the Canon category. Once applied it did a pretty good job on my Nikon, too. Am I right that the only reason for the difference in results between Canon and Nikon is the differently sized sensor?

  18. One more question: Did you use the Adobe lens profile creator for it?

    ReplyDelete
  19. hi,
yes, i used the profile creator and the largest and most complete target, lucky enough i have access to large format printer and Stanley level which was needed to make the set up perfectly vertical

In fact maybe its not the sensor that matters, Its the Bayer filter in front of the sensor that takes a big part in all the aberrations combined with the lens itself. i assume that now everybody uses similar or same technology and the lens is the same, so that's why it works

  21. Hi all,

Just a quick tip for everyone who is having trouble getting the profile to work in Lightroom 3. The problem might be simpler than you think. I just messed for several hours only to discover that my mistake had been simple and stupid.

All you need to do (I am running Win7 64bit) is to copy the file into the following paths and restart LR.

    C:\Users\(User Name)\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles \1.0
    C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0

You will then find it under the Canon pull-down menu.

However - and that's the silly part! - you do need to click on link provided, not right-click and save the file directly. Funnily enough, the resulting file would have the correct name but very little content. This is because it is on a Rapidshare account and needs to be accessed through their page. I only discovered this after opening the file in text editor.

Sorry if this is blaringly obvious to most but I, for one, had failed to note the link to Rapidshare.

Many thanks Boyan for making this great profile! Works like a charm!
